Q. Will the skip damage my drive?
A. If you are concerned about possible damage please contact us or mention at the time of booking.
Please note that once we vacate the highway, you automatically agree to indemnify us for any damage that occurs whilst on your property
Q. Can you put skips on a road?
A. Yes, we can place skips on a road. However, For skips that need to be placed on the road, footpath or grass verge, we have a legal requirement to apply for a permit with the local council. This normally takes 24hrs and there is a charge, depending on which council you come under. Check with the office when ordering. As an alternative option to this, you may want to consider our Wait & Load service.
Q. What is "Wait & Load"?
A. Wait & Load is a service we offer at no extra cost. When the driver delivers the skip, he will then wait for up to 30 minutes while you to fill the skip. He will then take it away. This eliminates the need to obtain permits, and is also ideal if you don't want a skip sat outside your house.
Q. How high can I load the skip?
A. By law, skips must be loaded no higher than the sides of the skip. The use of boards to build the sides up is prohibited. Most importantly, the skip must be loaded securely and responsibly so that it is safe for road transport. The laws governing the acceptable use of skips can be found in the Highways Act 1980 - section 139 road traffic regulations act 1984. If any items are considered to be overflowing or dangerous, our staff will remove them before the skip is taken away.
Q. What happens once the skip has been filled?
A. Call us to let us know you have finished with the skip. Our driver will then come to collect, usually within 48 hours but occasionally longer. The skip is then taken to our waste transfer station, where it will be processed for recycling. We consistently achieve a recycling rate of approximately 80%.
